Breaking The Law To Protect And Serve
The Traffic Enforcement Officer who wrote lots of tickets on Beach 116 Street on Friday, June 16, broke some of the Vehicle and Traffic Laws of his own. While the male TEO waited nearby cars for their parking time to expire before giving tickets 30 seconds after they did and gave many tickets for those who parked in the Loading Zones without even knowing that the zones existed, he broke the law by parking right next to a fire hydrant while he went to a local pizza joint for a quick bite to eat. One irate motorist, who had just received a ticket for parking in an unmarked loading zone, asked what would have happened if there were a fire nearby while he was away from his car. The traffic enforcement car remained in that spot for more than an hour and a half.
