Walter T. Lehmann

FDNY Lieutenant

Walter T. Lehmann, a Rockaway Beach resident for 80 years, died June 7. He was 93.

Lehmann, who was born in Rockaway Beach, served his country in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He later joined the New York City Fire Department and was assigned to Ladder 134 in Far Rockaway. He reached the rank of lieutenant.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rita.

Lehmann is survived by his son, Richard (Loretta); daughters, Ellen Miller (Richard) and Elizabeth; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Lehmann was a parishioner at St. Rose of Lima Church, and was a member of the Married Men's Club of the Daniel M. O'Connell Post 272 of the American Legion.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Moloney's Lake Funeral Home in Lake Ronkonkoma. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at The Church of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Lake Ronkonkoma. Interment was at Calverton National Cemetery.
