The Rockaway Little League's Laurence Pump Major Girls softball won two of their last three games, which lifted their season record to 5 wins and one loss.

The May 27th game against the Gift of Love commenced as both teams were without some experienced player (4 for Laurence and 7 for Gift). The girls of Laurence pulled it together admirably, playing different positions and utilizing practiced skills. Erin Tacopina (short center), Brittany Lonase) were terrific defensively and scored three runs each. Judith Wanderer, Kristen Lonnborg and Lauren Houck were smart at the plate as they produced RBI and scored multiple runs. Kyra Meli scored twice and hit a crushing three run homer to deep centerfield in the second inning. All the girls showed from both teams showed great heart as Laurence won 18-2.

Laurence was to meet George's Florist on June 4 but the game was forfeited. Both teams would meet up again the next day in what would turn out to be an exciting game.

The Laurence bats weren't their usual self and with a few errors defensively, it led to their first loss of the season. Catherine Murphy was smooth in the field playing first and third base and Lauren Hock made a nice leaping catch at first base. The game was tied at 2 until the sixth inning when George's Florist scored the game winner. Laurence went scoreless in the bottom of the sixth to lose 3-2.

Congratulations George's Florist!
