Rudolph Named Queens 'Secretary OfYear'

The United Federation of Teachers (UFT), the union representing New York City teachers and secretaries, has named Rockaway resident Marie Rudolph as the Queens Secretary of the Year.

Rudolph received her award from UFT President Randi Weingarten at an awards luncheon on June 3.

Rudolph, who has worked in a number of Rockaway schools, has been at Far Rockaway High School for the past ten years.

"I sometimes feel like the mother figure at Far Rockaway High School," she says. "I find myself taking new teachers under my wing and guiding them through the orientation process concerning personnel issues."

"My job is never boring," she adds. "I work in the main office and find myself involved in different issues and problems throughout the day."

Rudolph and her husband have four children.
