It Was 1952 And They Were Police Athletic League Champs

Where Are They Now? Perhaps You Can Tell Us

In 1952, more than 54 years ago this summer, the Police Athletic League championship team posed with 100 Precinct officials at the Rockaway Park precinct house. The team was made up primarily of west end teens, but at least two "were drafted from the 101 Precinct in Far Rockaway," according to Howard Harnish, who brought us this photograph. Wave editors can only identify one young man in the photo. Sitting on the floor in front of Captain Judge's desk (third from right) is Stevie Berman, who went on to become an all-city pitcher and quarterback for Far Rockaway High School only a few years later. Can anybody identify any of the other players on the team? Where are they now? Let us know at 718-634-4000 or at editor@rockawave.com.
