Rockaway Grads At NR College Commencement
Four Rockaway women, among the first to register for classes offered by the College of New Rochelle School of New Resources in Far Rockaway were graduated from the school at its May 25 commencement exercises. There were 38 students who registered in that first semester two years ago and the school now services more than 100 local students. The school offers a liberal arts degree for adults 21 years of age or above. While the school first held classes at MS 198, it later moved to MS 53 on Nameoke Street in Far Rockaway, where it remains today. The school hopes for more permanent quarters by the spring of 2007, officials told The Wave. Graduating with the Brooklyn Campus students, the four local students were feted at its annual dinner by the Rockaway Development and Revitalization Corporation, one of the program's sponsors.
