An NYPD Radio Mobile Patrol (RM)) vehicle driven by a police officer from the 100 Precinct in Rockaway Park collided with a air-conditioning van on May 31, sending two police officers and one civilian to the hospital. Police say this van, owned by Gotham Air Conditioning in Long Island City and driven by Jagdesh Persaud, 24, was driving northbound on Beach 98 Street heading towards Beach Channel Drive when it was struck by the RMP, driven by Police Officer Paul Harecki driving eastbound under elevated structure. The van was flipped over by the force of the crash. The driver was transported to Peninsula Hospital Center by EMS ambulance, where he was reportedly treated and released.
