The Ocean Grande luxury condominium building at the beachfront between Beach 116 and Beach 117 Street opened its doors on Thursday afternoon with a lavish grand opening ceremony that was attended by many of those who have bought apartments in the building as well as many local politicians and civic activists.

The eight-story, 92 unit building is 80 percent sold, according to a spokesperson who took a Wave editor on a tour of the building prior to the opening. Prices in the building range from $400,000 for a two-bedroom apartment facing the street to nearly $1,000,000 for a penthouse with an ocean view.

The building will be attractive to those seeking to enjoy a seaside lifestyle while living in close proximity to the cultural and entertainment opportunities easily available in New York City," said Jan Burman, President and CEO of the Engel Burman group, the building's developers.

In addition to the individual apartments, the building boasts a fitness center, 24-hour concierge service, a business computer center, a resident's club room, underground parking and locker rooms right off the beach.

The developers of Ocean Grande promise some of the best views in the area, as this photograph taken at the grand opening proves.
