Midori & Friends To Hold Family Concert
The Midori & Friends Family Concert will take place on Friday, June 23 starting at 10 a.m. at Peninsula Prep Academy, housed in MS 53 in Far Rockaway.
The concert will feature ForestDance , an African percussion ensemble. "Music education is a vital component of our public school system, and enhances the lives of our students," said State Senator Malcolm Smith, a supporter of the Peninsula Prep Academy.
The Queens lawmaker noted that Midori & Friends has presented free educational programs by Midori, distinguished ensembles, and teaching artists to more than 110,000 school children over the past 12 years.
"Since 1992, Midori & Friends has given children in New York City public schools the opportunity to explore and develop their musical talents. By giving our children a greater appreciation for music, we are giving them the opportunity to express themselves in a new way," said Senator Smith. "I know that it has had a tremendous impact on the children of Queens, and I hope that Midori & Friends will continue to inspire New York's youth for years to come."
