Last Thursday's hot, smoky fire at 320 Beach 100 Street in the Bay Towers housing complex drove hundreds from their homes and tied up traffic in both directions on busy Beach Channel Drive for more than an hour. Fire officials say they are still investigating the cause of the fire but do not consider it suspicious in nature. Pictured, smoke pours from the window of Apartment 4E on the fourth floor of the building. An Emergency Medical Technician carries a toddler rescued from the fire. Deputy Inspector Charles Neacy, the Commanding Officer of the 100 Precinct, directs his troops. A Firefighter from Ladder 121 climbs into the burning apartment. More than a dozen fire units and 75 firefighters fought the fire.
