NY Housing Authority Garden Workshop For Kids

McKinley Hightower-Beyah, of the Hamer-Campos Farmer's Market in Rockaway, took part in the New York City Housing Authority's (NYCHA) "Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day" on Thursday, April 27. Hightower-Beyah, a consultant for the NYCHA Garden and Greening program that is headed by Howard Hemmings of the NYCHA, worked with 45 children, inspiring them to grow and eat fresh produce, practice good nutrition and maintain open green spaces. Hightower-Beyah is also working with the youth at the Redfern Community Center, at a site where they are growing flowers and vegetables.
