PS 106 Hosts 'Read To Me'Contest


A "Read to Me / Read Aloud Contest" was held at P.S. 106Q to initiate the spring season. The contest, which will now be featured as an annual event, was implemented by Miriam Baum, Reading Specialist, with the goal of fostering school wide interest in reading for fluency and enjoyment. Students of KG through grade 5 practiced reading self selected picture books and chapter books to increase reading fluency. Each grade produced winners in Most Fluent Readers and Most Improved Readers. Winners were awarded books as well as gift certificates for Dunkin Donuts, which were purchased by Donna Douglas, President of the P.S. 106 Parents' Association.
