New Sewers Impact Traffic On BCD

The installation of new sewer lines has been slowing traffic and, at times, causing detours along Beach Channel Drive from Beach 39 Street to Beach 47 Street for the last several weeks. The narrowing of streets - due to large holes in the ground waiting to be worked on (as shown at Beach Channel Drive and Beach 40 Street) and the construction to install the new sewer system (seen on the corner of Beach 44 Street and Beach Channel Drive) has been hindering the flow of cars, buses and other vehicles that normally travel in the area. Although things have been improving, it looks like those who travel that route will have to wait a while longer before their rides are back to normal. On Tuesday, a supervisor at the Beach 44 Street site told The Wave he had no idea when the work would be completed.
