Assembly Hosts Israel's Consul General
Mekal engaged state representatives in conversations about the health of Israel Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and the upcoming elections.
Mekal, the child of Holocaust survivors, has enjoyed an exceptional public career over the past twenty years. Following his service in the Israel Defense Forces, where he worked as a correspondent for Israel Army Radio, the Consul General joined the staff of Israel State Radio- the Voice of Israel. Since becoming a part of Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1984, he has held a series of increasingly high profile positions within the Israel government, culminating in his appointment as Consul General in 2004.
"I truly found Consul General's remarks and stories most fascinating," stated Assemblywoman Audrey I. Pheffer. "I am comforted by the fact that he is a strong voice for Israel."
