Camp kidsmART Teen Assistant News:
Applications for Teen Assistant positionsat camp kidsmART are now available. Please call the office at 718-474-0861 if you would like to receive an application. Please note the following: TeenAssistants must be between 15-19 years of age; camp kidsmART dates and hours are July 10 - August 10, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday; camp kidsmART will be extended for the weeks of August 14 and 21 and we expect to need a portion of our staff for those weeks; camp kidsmART is located in Fort Tilden; the pay rate for teen assistants is $7.00 per hour; availability of positions as teen assistants is extremely limited; please refrain from calling the office to check the status of applications once they are submitted.
sTudio 7 Update:
Having completed renovations to the exterior of sTudio 7 Gallery, RAA is now proceeding with interior renovations to create fully heated and air conditioned classrooms, exhibition space, dark room, kiln room, bathrooms, etc. and, eventually, artist studio spaces/ workshops. Thanks to our state representatives Assemblywoman Audrey Pheffer and State Senator Serphin Maltese for procuring funding and through the generous support of the JP Morgan Chase Foundation.
Art News-Not So Far Away:
The Women's Studio Center is now offering weekly life sessions on Wednesdays, 4-6 p.m. Professional models are provided, in 2 minute and 20 minute poses. The fee is $7.00 for Women's Studio Center members, $9.50 for non-members. No registration is necessary. West End Arts is presenting Art Expo: Colors of Long Beach on Sunday, April 30, 1 - 5 p.m. at the Long Beach Senior Community Center, 650 Magnolia Boulevard in Long Beach. The opening reception starts at 1 pm. The day includes art demonstrations, a video production, Long Island Artists Habitat, Long Beach Polar Bears, Hispanic dance performances, musical performances and refreshments. On view through April 30 is Paper Trail, the printmaking and paper works exhibition at sTudio 7 Gallery, Rockaway Center for the Arts at Fort Tilden.
Admission is free.
RAA is offering an adult painting workshop in acrylic and oil. Dates and times: April 20-June 8, 10a.m. to noon. Instructor: Geoff Rawling. Fees: $15 per session or $100 in advance for all 8 sessions; seniors: $10 per session or $70 in advance for all 8 sessions. Supplies are included.
All experience levels are welcome.
