In Your Easter Bonnet/Some With Bees Upon It

Yes, this year I marched in front of St. Patrick's Cathedral Easter Sunday with all the others displaying their beautiful and creative bonnets. Some of you may have seen me on the steps of Saint Patrick's on Channel 4. Although my bonnet was a simple pink cloche, not to compete with the elaborate artistic designs of some of the glamorous and showy chapeaus on display. Then we dashed over to Tavern on the Green for lunch. I was with Casey Brush who is the CEO/President of the Headwear Information Bureau. We were one of four to judge the winners of the Easter Bonnets, which is held annually at the Tavern on the Green. There were several categories: The Funniest, Children's, and Animal. I can't forget that St. Bernard wearing his love bonnet so well with his paws crossed holding a bouquet of flowers and his nails done so beautifully. He must have stopped at Studio J before the parade. He was a winner. And, some of the other winners were: Citi Chicks with their yellow marshmallow candy chicks adorning their hats.

It was a great day and if you haven't marched up Fifth Ave or experienced Tavern on the Green for lunch or just cocktails to witness the best Easter Hat contest you have really missed a fun time. If you are artistic you can design your own hat and can enter the contest. Be sure to be there next year. You will have a blast! With the weather on our side it made a perfect day.

Well, of course you know the Auto Show is at the Javit's center till April 23. I checked out the Mercedes and other cars. The hybrids fascinated me and some of them run on no gas. There was a big party up in the Gallery and I met the Coasters, and they were sensational. Over at the Rainbow Room the night before Volvo celebrated the Volvo Life Awards for some of the most outstanding individuals who devote their lives to helping others. Best Buddies Award went to Ben Hecht and Matt Rohret. Ben is mentally challenged and Matt has been by his side constantly to help him train for the Special Olympics. The Butterfly Award went to Grace Farnan in memory of her grandmother.

Grace, at eleven, became the youngest volunteer at her grandmother's hospice, and has convinced her other Girl Scouts to join her in comforting hospice patients. They are all heroes in helping make our world safer and more caring.

At the dinner/auction of African paintings at Gotham Hall for saving Africa's Rainforests, I learned from speaker Tony Lapham that the New Species Award went to Lewis the frog, after Lapham's brother, who discovered the new toad.

Over at the Supper Club, the JVC announced 100 JAZZ concerts and events across Manhattan and Brooklyn from June 12 to June 24. The Jazz Festival will host 300 artists performing the best of jazz, blues, ragtime, swing, Latin, Brazilian, R&B, tap dance and more. It will be a jazzy time. You can reach them on the web: www.festivalproductions.net

The Trump Tower last night was bursting with beauties. And, Donald Trump was right in the midst of them, joining Miss USA, Drew Lachey and Carson Kressley to launch the first ever official Miss Universe organization book, "Universal Beauty: the Miss Universe Guide to Beauty." Former Miss Universe winners from around the world are featured in the book; one from 1967 from the USA is in it and is still a beauty. A great display of pulchritude.

Nicole Crowley reached the legal age of 21 on March 31. It had been printed in error that she was 19. I just wish someone could take a few years off my age. I turned "legal" so many, many years ago. Wait till you get to my age, Nicole.

Oh, that Talking, Talking World Globe. I love it and it is so great for the whole family by Oregon Scientific.

Helene and Peter Danzilo spent Easter in California with daughter, Christine Danzilo. They drove from Las Vegas with friends to Christine's. I am sure they had a beautiful Easter.

It is that time of year again when love is in bloom and weddings are in season. Before your big day check out Studio J, where Janet will make you beautiful from head to toe for one low package price. I have seen her apply makeup and she does a superb job.

Have you had your crabs at the Crab House yet? I hear from those who went there that it is sensational! ALL YOU CAN EAT.
