Midwood Lacrosse Continues

By Elizabeth Graham

The Midwood Varsity Lacrosse team maintained its undefeated status this week after two games that were expected to be very tough . Last Friday the Hornets took the bus to Cardozo High in a state of high expectation and preparedness.

It was certain to be one of their most difficult games this season. Cardozo had the best record and was known to be a hard-hitting, high scoring team. Midwood Coach John Murphy had his team psyched for the confrontation and they delivered. Rockaway boys figured heavily as usual in the win. Jeremy Ehresman had 4 assists, Matt Michaels scored 1 and Rob McCabe scored 1 in the exciting 6-1 victory.

Tuesday's game against the Tottenville Pirates was highly anticipated since they had beaten Cardozo, Curtis, and Port Richmond. The Hornets truly "stung 'em" in a 14-5 victory. The Pirates were "looted" as Jeremy scored 2 and had 2 assists, Matt scored 4, and Rob McCabe scored 4 with 1 assist. Lucasz Boruch and Evan Hamburger never stopped on defense as the Pirates' offense kept up the assault with 21 shots on goal. It was a sweet win and the Tottenville team and fans were stunned. There's plenty more action to come this season, and this reporter/parent/rabid fan will keep you readers informed. GO MIDWOOD!!!!!!!!! STING 'EM!!!!!!!!
