Hiring Seasonal Bridge And Tunnel Officers

MTA Bridges and Tunnels are seeking students to work as Seasonal Bridge and Tunnel Officers collecting tolls. Applications are now available at the Queens Community Board 14, 1931 Mott Avenue, Room 311, Far Rockaway; and Brooklyn Community Board 17, 5715 Avenue H, #1D, Brooklyn.

The program is designed to offer students with employment opportunities during periods of high seasonal demand. Students hired through the program will act as toll collectors on either the Cross Bay Veterans Memorial Bridge or the Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge.

In order to qualify, students must:

+ Be currently enrolled as a full-time high school senior or full-time student at an accredited college or university.

+ Be at least 18 years of age by June 30, 2006, or by the date of the first day of work.

+ Possess a high school diploma or GED by the date of the first day of work.

+ Possess a valid unrestricted New York State driver license.

+ Be a U.S. Citizen and be a New York State resident.

+ Must be referred by an MTA employee or submit a written recommendation from a current teacher on school letterhead or on the form included in the application.

+ Be available for full-time summer work, including weekends, holidays, evenings and overtime as assigned.

The summer employment application-filling period is from April 1, 2006 to May 1, 2006.

All qualified students will be notified of the results.
