DOT Fills 'Canyon' On Beach 102 Street

A Department of Transportation crew responded Thursday morning to Beach 102 Street and Rockaway Beach Boulevard to fill a hole that was growing right at the lip of sidewalk curb cut for the handicapped. Catherine Diffley, the 103-00 Shore Front Parkway resident seen here talking to a DOT worker, is building a file on the deteriorating conditions at the busy intersection and has been reporting problems to DOT.
She nicknamed the hole the "Rockaway Canyon" after she fell there recently. "I can't afford to fall down and get hurt again," she told The Wave.
