RAA Presents 'Paper Trail' Exhibition

Neither rock nor scissors will be present, but the possibilities of paper will fully unfold as Rockaway Artists Alliance presents "Paper Trail: A Printmaking and Paper Works Exhibition" in their studio 7 gallery at Fort Tilden between April 8 and April 28. A reception featuring entertainment, refreshments and many of the artists will be held on Sunday, April 9 from 1-3 p.m.

Artists of all disciplines have been given carte blanche to open up paper's ability to become many things using many means, such as solar print, monotype, mixed media, engraving, papier-mache and montage.

As with many recent RAA shows, "Paper Trail" has attracted submissions from artists far and wide; showcased work comes from the New York area as well as Montana, Tennessee, Virginia, Illinois, Pennsylvania and California. In exploring the transforming power of paper, each work is shaped by a multitude of techniques and the artist's own talent; adding light and dark, subtlety and shadow to something we touch everyday, something we think we know.

The Rockaway Artists Alliance invites all to enjoy "Paper Trail" during its run at the Rockaway Center for the Arts (RocA) galleries. Gallery hours are Saturdays, 12-4 p.m., Sundays from 1-4 p.m., and by appointment. For more information call (718) 474-0861, email rockart116@aol.com, or visit www.rockawayartistsalliance.org.
