Locals Help Midwood Lacrosse Stay Undefeated

By Elizabeth Graham

Midwood Varsity Lacrosse team played three games this week and they brought their record to 4-0!

In last Saturday's game against Lutheran, the Hornets won 7-2. Rockaway local Rob McCabe scored 2 goals, and attackman Jeremy Ehresman and team captain Evan Hamburger played every minute to keep Lutheran at bay.

Tuesday's game at Curtis was a stunning blowout of 16-0. Rob McCabe scored 7 goals, Jeremy Ehresman had 7 assists, and Danny Kelley scored his first PSAL goal. First stringers got a breather in the 2nd half as every player got some time. Tim Halligan took a hit and hurt his knee. Steve Mangone, a senior defenseman (who was not mentioned last week- mea culpa ) recuperating from knee surgery, got some playing time in. The team as a whole is coming together, but coach Murphy warned not to let this huge win get to their heads.

Wednesday's 8-2 victory at Waldorf had very few spectators but was well played and fun to watch. Matt Michaels scored 4 goals and Rob McCabe scored 2. Our Rockaway boys played hard as usual and are an integral part of a team that has high hopes and a lot of potential. The Hornets are playing in two leagues, so if you check out the PSAL website, you will only see some games listed. The other games are in the Metro league, and will be reported here!
