Local Teacher Wins In 'Caraoke Contest'

Laura Midura, a teacher at PS/MS 42 in Far Rockaway, was the grand prizewinner of Gevalia's Coffee and Caraoke Contest on WPLJ-FM. Midura, who is from Merrick, Long Island, and her caraoke carpool team sang karaoke live in the 'PLJ Party Patrol Van," and radio listeners judged several teams' singing talents. Midura and her group will receive $2,500 towards gas and a year's supply of Gevalia Coffee. "We decided to team up with WPLJ-FM to help a few lucky individuals have fun for a change during their morning commute and receive a stress-free ride into work, enjoy Gevalia coffee and sing like they were driving alone," said Leona Lindner, marketing director of Gevalia Kaffe.
