St. Virgilius BCAC Bantam Boys Finish Season on Top

The team finished the season on Saturday, February 11 with a double win.

Their record is 15-2 one of the best in the CYO league. The team has made

a terrific improvement. They have learned and can execute 7 different types of defenses and over 23 different offensive plays. All of the teams members have came together to make this season so wonderful.

Joe Klein has been playing point and has executed all of the plays with great skill and speed. Kevin Cregan has been a penetrating weapon with great defense and offense. He scored more than 14 points in single game.

Michael Henglein has made a great improvement by playing amazing offence and defense. He steadily makes key rebounds at key times helping the team to victory. Justin Esposito has been a strong player on the team he scored 22 points in one game and averaged 14 points per game. He has also made key rebounds for the team.

Chris Gigliello is another key player on the team scoring no less than 6 points in any game and has scored 14 points in one game. He has developed skills on driving the ball to the hoop and drawing fouls. Dominic Edison has grown into a great player with great shooting and rebounding. Cory Diaz is one of the most aggressive players on the team, making great steals and shots at key moments in the game. Tommy Mercer has also improved 100% since the start of the season he is a team player. And despite his size he always manages to help the team and play great offense and defense. Kevin O’Brien has become one of the best passers on the team and has developed great skills. Sean Able has greatly improved since he began. He has gotten much more physical in his game and has helped the team with key plays. He has become a great pintail.

Scott Appleman a first time player is always there to help the team in any way he can. He does everything he is asked with great skill and determination.

Dominic Edison, Cory Diaz, Tommy Mercer, and Kevin O’Brien all tried out and made their highly competitive public school teams. This has been a great season and we hope to have a even better one next year. Thank you to all of the players you worked very hard, and learned the meaning of team work.
