Holocaust Survivor Welcomed At Stella Maris

Seventh grade students at PS/ MS 43 studied the work of African American artist Jacob Lawrence. They recreated his paintings on a large scale. The work is on display in the main lobby of the school.  All are welcome to visit and view these striking paintings. The artwork was created under the direction of teacher, Jo Anne Ellis.

Two classes of Stella Maris seniors were fortunate to attend a presentation by Fanya Gottesfeld Heller, a survivor of the Holocaust. Sister Grace Lynch and Sister Barbara Mackiewicz encouraged their students to interact with Heller after her presentation. The students questioned their guest, who welcomed their queries and responded freely.
