The Rabbit Hole

Broadway playwright, David Linsey Abaire has taken a devastated tragedy that has turned a beautiful, loving, very, very comfortable family into the darkness of despair by the superb acting of Cynthia Nixon (Becca) as the emotionally torn mother of her seven year old son killed by a neighbor teenager in a car accident and wife of John Slattery (Howie) equally distraught . Meanwhile “Becca” has to cope with her reckless teenager,( Izzy), Mary Catherine Garrison and arrogant Mom ,(Nat) Tyne Daly. It is not until a talk with the guilt-ridden (Jason) John Gallagher, neighbor and friend, does she find release and her way back from the darkest places like a Rabbit Hole Awards should be given to John Lee Beatty (Set Designer) who portrayed an affluent, very attractive home, as well as the other sets that just magically appeared on the revolving stage which made for such a smooth transition from one scene to the next. The original music was fine background music and well suitable by John Gromada.. Not only was Tyne Daly who played her role with gusto, but all in the cast did a fine job as well. A beautiful night at Broadway Theatre. I recommend you see it. It opened on Feb. 2.

The Gift Show took up about almost everything in NYC. Full to capacity: Javit’s Center, The Piers 90 and 94, Penn Pavillon and the Designer Bldg. 7West 34 th St/ I will be interviewing some of them one on one on WNYX TV. I met a gal with a great idea at one of the Christmas Showrooms where they can come and in rent and decorate . Then you don’t have to store anything. But just to decorate alone would be a be help to Corporations and also that are not up to it, but would enjoy it. Issadora & Mizarti had an interesting showroom with seen on Ophra’s Show animal designed sachets, gorgeous, glittery pill boxes, card cases, show battled openers and bottle tops and a myriad of things that just tempt you to buy.

There were two fabulous events at the Rainbow Rm. With Cipriani food. One was the Concord Hotels. They had a dinner and displayed all their beautiful Hotels around the world in France, Europe and Asia. They are all five star hotels and very elegant. The other event was Texas and it was fabulous luncheon. That state sure is big, They have Gondola Rides outside the Four Season Hotel in Dallas /Ft. Worth Area and they invited me to do one of my Travel in Style Shows down there. Although many years ago I did experience the Gondola in Venice I would like to experience it in Texas down the river and then you take the famous train ride back. Warm and friendly people. And, I won a trip to Amiardillo Texas. Great, fun party. Can’t wait till I visit Texas

Fashion week was in Town so I didn’t want to miss the new designers at the Secrets of Charm at the Sherry Netherlands …What I saw was, plain super skinny, paper thin, looking no more than 14 years old models, with unattractive hairdos. All “dos” with big, bulky, attached braids down the back and wisps of hair flying all over in clothes you could find in Grandma’s closet. Some rugged, comfy clothes to flirty “on the town” dresses. One “peep a boob” little back dress was pretty. Slim pencil skirts and blazers in Scottish tweeds and men’s vest in lightweight denim.

On the other hand, Diane von Furtenberg Working Girl was an exciting show with gorgeous models in sensationally designed clothes. Big, black and white bold check coats, jackets, skirts, blouses. Pencil skits in knit suiting, For “on town” flowing silk trapeze gowns, evening wrap gowns, boy shorts with beaded blazer and page boy velvets.

Scandinavia House presented Use your Illusion by multi award winning, Mary Ping which were lovely. She presents clothes that are timely in thought, timeless for wearers and always luxurious in its austerity. Black patent leather was the highlight. Slim stripes streak down slim jeans and meet the orderly calm of Swiss-dot shirting. Purples, blacks, bronzes and rich browns swirl into woven textiles. Skinny cut trousers and parka with mirrored flash of black patent on a dolman sleeve. Patches of black patent leather in more than several outfits.

Travel: St. Lucia presented their newest hotels and specials with air specials offered by Air Jamaica. It is non-stop out of New from Mon., Wed. and Fri.. One of the new hotels. Coconut Bay DOES NOT CHARGE FOR SINGLE SUPPLEMENT. They offer smaller rooms.. May 5 – 14 is their Jazz Festival.
