State Senator Malcolm A. Smith recently announced that he, in conjunction with Acorn Housing and Bank of America, are presenting a First Time Home Buyer Seminar on Thursday, February 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the Family Life Center, 172-17 Linden Boulevard in St. Albans.

“I am please that Bank of America, Hughroy Daley and attorneys from the firm of Rengroe and Grinn are joining me for this seminar. Also, Acorn Housing will have numerous Housing Urban Development (HUD)-approved loan counselors ready to assist anyone who is interested in securing home ownership,” Senator Smith said. He added that Acorn Housing is currently offering numerous incentives to make it easier than ever for people to buy homes.

The incentives include:

An $8,000 grant toward closing costs.

0% to 5% down on co-ops, condo and one to four family homes.

Interest rates ½% to 1% below the market rate.

No points or brokers fees.

Refinancing options.

“Any homeowner will tell you that there is nothing like walking in the door of a house you own. I hope anyone who is interested in buying a home, or people looking for a great deal on refinancing will attend,” Senator Smith concluded.
