Pam Tobol, Consumer Studies teacher at Stella Maris High School, was instrumental in attaining a Title II Grant for Technology in Urban Schools, awarded by the New York City Department of Education.

In the Business and Consumer Studies department,

students in Human

Development and the Family course are designing educational websites. Through this project, students are learning to collaborate and acquire valuable research skills. The web pages designed through these projects will be available on the Internet as research tools for others.

Students who meet a deadline will be able to enter their web pages in an international competition.

A professional development is being provided for teachers, with classes held during the summer and on Saturdays during the school year. These classes offer

hands on training in the basics of web design and a practical approach to integrating

technology with curriculum.
