Cozier, a retired electrician who worked for Western Electric, was born in the Bronx. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was also a past V.F.W. member. Cozier was preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth, Charles and Richard; and his sister, Dorothy Lennon. He is survived by his wife, Jane Cussen Cozier; sons, James, Robert and Kevin; daughter, Susan Hartnett; sister, Joan Cimbalist; and 10 grandchildren. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home. Interment was private.
Lillian Irene Forbes Retired Nurse’s Aide Lillian Irene (nee Merrill) Forbes, a former Far Rockaway resident, died December 10. She was 86. Forbes was born in Berwick, Maine on October 19, 1919. She was a graduate of Sullivan High School in Berwick, Maine, Class of 1936. She lived in Dover, New Hampshire and worked in local shoe shops before moving to Far Rockaway, where she was a nurse’s aide at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital South Shore Division for 19 years before retiring in 1985 and moving back to Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Forbes was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Raymond and Lydia Olive (nee Annis) Merrill; three brothers, Charles, Raymond, and Richard Merrill; and sister, Lyndell “Linda” Allen. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Jane DeMayo of Far Rockaway, and Dorothy L. Ward of Portsmouth, New Hampshire; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and many relatives and friends. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the J. Verne Wood Funeral Home-Buckminster Chapel in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Memorial contributions may be made to the Edgewood Centre Recreation Fund, 928 South Street, Portsmouth, New Hampshire, 03801.
Henry L. Glover US. Postal Service Postman Henry L. Glover, a lifetime Rockaway resident, died December 10. He was 68. Glover, known as “Sonny,” was a United States Postal Service Postman. He was born on November 2, 1937 in Far Rockaway. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Lawrence Glover Sr. and Nealie Boyd Glover. Glover is survived by his wife, Shirley Glover; daughter, Michelle Glover; son, Dwayne Glover; granddaughter, Micole; grandson, Dwayne Jr.; great-grandson, D’Nico; godson, Davon Davis; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Weaver, Edith S. Wright-Morrison, Mildred Clinkscales and Rosetta Hunt; sisters-in-law, Antoinette Jones and Ann Glover; brother-in-law, Ferry “Buddy” Wright; nephew, Derek Hunt; and many relatives and friends. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney’s Funeral Home with visitation and a service held at Gaffney’s Friendship Chapel. Interment was at Amityville Cemetery.
Richard “Ric” W. Lynster Keyspan Mechanic, Union Delegate Richard “Ric” W. Lynster, a longtime Rockaway resident, died December 9. Lynster, a mechanic and former union delegate for Keyspan, was born in Queens. He was also a Sunday bartender at the Harbor Light Restaurant. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Flood Lynster; daughters, Catherine and Coleen Lynster; brother, Timmy Lynster (Sherrod); brothers and sisters in-law, Ginny and Tom Flood and Marilyn and Rich Cross; and nieces and nephews, Teig Lynster, Tim, Kara, Ellen, Amanda and Megan Flood, and Matthew, Brian, Kevin and Travis Cross. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Francis de Sales Church in Belle Harbor. Interment was private. Donations may be made to the American Lung Association in Richard W. Lynster’s memory.
John “Jack” J. McCann Commercial Refrigeration Proprietor John “Jack” J. McCann, a Rockaway resident for 42 years, died December 8. McCann, a proprietor in the commercial refrigeration business, was born in Manhattan. He served his country in the U.S. Army and Air Force during World War II; and was a fourth degree Knights of Columbus NYC Council, and an usher at St. Francis de Sales Church. McCann was preceded in death by his sister, Catherine Ingram. He is survived by his wife, Grace Kenna McCann; sons, John (Kathy), Chris, Gerard, and Hutch (Theresa) McCann; daughters, Theresa McCann and Grace Carey (Wayne); sisters, Marian Short, Helena Gelderman, and Josie Buzzalino; eleven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Francis de Sales Church in Belle Harbor. Interment was at Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, New York.
