Police Officer Makes Gun Collar

A police officer in the 101 Precinct’s Anti-Crime Unit last week arrested a teen carrying a loaded handgun on Nameoke Street, according to court records.

Officer Eric J. Konoski recovered a loaded .25 caliber semi-automatic pistol that had a bullet in the chamber from the pants pocket of Cheron Bethea, 19, according to the records.

Bethea, of 10-12 Nameoke Street, is charged with felony criminal weapons possession and resisting arrest. Police allege that he flailed his arms violently as they tried to handcuff his wrists.

Queens Criminal Court Judge Steven Knops set Behea’s bail at $15,000 bond $10,000 cash, according to a spokeswoman for Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown. His next court date is November 4.
