Fontbonne Spikes Competition To Continue Hot Streak

The Bonnie JV starters take the court versus the Kingsmen of Nazareth High School.
Fontbonne continued to play strong volleyball as the month of October opened. On Monday the JV scrimmaged with Berkeley-Carroll and continued their winning ways with a strong outing. The non-league match-up gave plenty of playing time to some of the freshmen. Led by Rockaway residents April Shaughnessy, and Maggie Sheehan, the other freshmen include Katrina Aluotto, Gabriella Coakley, Kristine DeMasi, Danielle Eaton, Katherine Koutsavlis, and Alissia Resta.

On Tuesday the 4th the Varsity Bonnies had a return match with the St. Saviour’s Pandas. Strong play by the entire team helped the Bonnies to a convincing win. Led by Seniors Angelica Fusco, Britney Lynch, Patty Moran, and Kerry Murdoch, the Varsity squad has begun to gel together as the season enters the last two busy weeks. The Varsity record is now 5-1.

Finally the week ended with the JV facing off with the Nazareth High School squad. The Bonnie JV was able to prevail led by sophomores Jane Taikina, Liz Rogers, Kelly Johnston, Pam Mendoza and Alexa Amen. The JV team sports a 4-0 league record.

Next week action continues with return matches for both the JV and Varsity against tough teams from Loughlin, and Kearney, as well as the first meeting with Bishop Ford.
