Laborers; Cement & Concrete Workers Recruit

The Cement and Concrete Workers Training and Education Fund, District Council 16, will conduct recruitment for skilled construction craft laborers on October 5, February 8 and June 7 for 45 apprentices.

Applications will be available at the council, 29-18 35th Avenue, Long Island City, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the above dates.

The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for the Construction and General Building Laborers, Local 79, is also opening recruitment on October 3 for 150 skilled apprentices.

Applications can be obtained at the Mason Tenders Training Fund, 75 Varick Street, Suite 501 in , from 8 a.m. to noon, October 3 through October 5. Both committees require that applicants be at least 18 years old. The Cement and Concrete Workers Committee require applicants to have at least a tenth grade education, be able to read and understand course materials, by physically able to do the work, and provide a $15 testing fee.

The Laborers Committee requires that applicants have a high school or general equivalency diploma.
