Irish Ropes Boxers Dominate Once Again
By Elio Velez

Middleweight fighters John Duddy (3rd from left) and James Moore (far right) gather together with their managers, Tony and Eddie McLoughlin (far left), trainer Harry Keitt (center) and local sponsor D. Brian Heffernan (2nd from right) of Heffernan Realty at the Irish Ropes Boxing Club on Burchell Ave and Bay 72 St. Duddy, a native of County Derry in Northern Ireland and Moore, born in County Wicklow, Ireland remain undefeated.
Last weekend’s trip to Mansfield, Massachusetts was a big success for Arverne Irish Ropes Boxing Club fighters John Duddy and James Moore.

It was another impressive performance for Duddy as a huge Irish contingent watched the middleweight shoot down Joe “The Assassin” Brady in a first round knockout.

A raucous crowd barely reached their seats as after the opening bell of the first round main event, Duddy came out flying with numerous punches that stunned Brady.

A straight right hand by Duddy connected squarely on Brady’s chin. With a stunned look on Brady’s face, Duddy quickly threw a left cross which put his opponent on the canvas.

Brady got up before the count but he once again would get comfortable with the canvas. Duddy’s vicious left hook to the stomach put Brady back on the ground and ended his night.

Duddy improved to 12-0 and a championship fight such as a New York middleweight title bout may occur before the year ends.

Moore had a more adventurous night as he improved his record to 3-0. The 2001 World Amateur Championship bronze winner defeated Hollister Elliott in a third round knockout.

After dominating the first round, Moore bounced back after getting decked to the canvas in the second round by Elliott. In the third round, Moore dominated and finished Eliott with a left hook to the body to gain his second knockout of his young professional career.
