Addabbo Sets Hurricane Meeting 9/17

In an effort to prepare his constituents for emergency situations such as Hurricane Katrina, Councilman Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. announced on Wednesday that he will sponsor an emergency preparedness and evacuation event for residents of the Rockaway Peninsula and Broad Channel on Tuesday, September 27, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Beach Channel High School, 1000 Beach Channel Drive.

Addabbo said the American Red Cross, NYC Office of Emergency Management (OEM), New York City Police Department, NYC Fire Department and local volunteer fire departments, including the Broad Channel Volunteers and a number of the Breezy Point units will also be co-sponsoring and participating in the event.

“In light of the tragedy of Katrina and considering the geographic location of my district, I felt it was important for my constituents to get the latest information regarding emergency preparation and evacuation procedures.” Addabbo stated.

Those interested in further information should contact Councilman Addabbo’s office at 718-738-1111.
