BCAC Shamrocks Impress With Opening Day Win

Last Friday night was the BCAC’s Jersey Night. All the football players were cheered on by the BCAC cheerleaders as they received their jersey’s and ran through the large crowd of parents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles and friends to the BCAC football program.  This year the BCAC has a new commissioner, Mr. Eugene Guttieri. Gene has been working endlessly to prepare for the season. He travels to all the Nassau and Suffolk League meetings and also makes sure five BCAC teams are equipped and ready to play for opening day. With the help of a small group of dads, they also prepare the field for play.

This past Saturday was opening day for the BCAC season as the Ponies traveled to Levittown. The 11 & 12 year old boys faced a team that definitely looked well prepared with their rehearsed line up. A bit intimidating at first, but not enough to intimidate the BCAC Shamrocks. They rocked them!!!!

Quarterback, John Galimi knows his teammates well.  Many of them have been playing together for a number of years. Matt Gerricke once again showed his awesome playing ability through out the game.

All the kids played a great game. This team has a lot of spirit. They came back to Broad Channel with their first win 25-19. Head coach Mike Gerricke was very happy with his team. Assistant coaches Doug Hazel and Richie Randall have been preparing their team for the past few weeks and were pleased with the results.

They will be traveling to Brentwood this Sunday at 2:00pm.
