for larger version       Hazel S.Ruffino NYS Unemployment Advisor Hazel S. Ruffino, a Rockaway resident for 55 years, died September 9. Ruffino, an advisor for New York State Unemployment, was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was a retired NYS employee Columbiette for the Rockaway Council, a retired travel agent, Democratic Party member and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She is survived by her son, James Ruffino; daughter, Jo Anne Alessi; sister, Esther Matelli; and six grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O’Conor Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Camillus Church. Interment was at Long Island National Cemetery in Pinelawn.
