Light A Match!

The Wastewater Treatment Plant on Beach Channel Drive has been so malodorous for the past few weeks that several people at this month’s Community Board 14 meeting cried foul. Board member Barbara Morris described a stench that she said made her sick to her stomach. District Manager Jonathan Gaska encouraged people to report the condition to the NYC Department of Environmental Protection by dialing 311. While the stretch of Beach Channel Drive between Beach 108 Street and Beach Channel High School is widely known as a hold-your-breath zone, Gaska said most people complain to one another and not to the agency that could possibly correct the stinky situation.
