PHC’s ‘Medical Exploring’ Program For Teens

Peninsula Hospital Center, partnering with the Far Rockaway Weed and Seed Program, Rockaway Development and Revitalization Corporation, the 1199 Mentoring Program and A Forum for L.I.F.E. Inc., recently “graduated” 18 young men and women from a “Medical Exploring” program.

The young men and women heard speakers from the Hospital Center, learned about a variety of career opportunities in healthcare, assisted in various departments of the hospital and earned their Red Cross certification in both CPR and First Aid.

Liz Sulik, Director of External Affairs for Peninsula Hospital, and who worked with many of the young people, said, “This group of young men and women proved themselves to be responsible. They worked hard and hopefully learned a great deal about healthcare.

It was truly a pleasure having them in the Hospital Center this summer, and we’re hoping that some of them will decide to pursue healthcare careers.”
