Legal Aid Returns To The Rockaways

The Legal Aid Society has announced that it is returning to the Rockaways beginning January 2006.

About a year ago, the Legal Aid Civil Practice office on Central Avenue was forced to close and consolidate with their main office in Kew Gardens, which now services all of Queens, including the Rockaways. However, Legal Aid has been seeking a space in the community to make services more accessible to Rockaway clients.

Thanks to the generosity of the Borough President of Queens, Honorary Helen Marshall, and Peninsula Hospital Center, Legal Aid staff will be able to provide free legal services, such as custody, immigration, eviction, and welfare matters to low income Rockaway residents.

These services will be available on site at Peninsula Hospital, located at 51-15 Beach Channel Drive; on Wednesday evenings from 6-9 p.m. Individuals will be seen by appointment only. For more information or to schedule an appointment, please call (718) 286-2462 on Fridays only between the hours of 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
