SFDS Basketball Continues With Intermediate Boys’ Win

The SFDS CYO Basketball Intermediate boys swept a pair to remain undefeated and on a roll. Patryk Grabowski tallied 16, Tom Tsatsis 12 and John Duggan 7 to fuel a 54-31 victory over Our Lady of Grace. Mike Carnacchio then scored 15, Michael Mangano 12, and Vincent Esposito 10 as they ran past St. Stan 78-26. The Rookies won by forfeit when Holy Child failed to show.

The Novices stayed unbeaten with a win over Gate of Heaven. The PeeWee B’s beat Our Lady of Grace 23-8 led by the play of Alex Moule, Donovan Nelsen and Phil Ferrandino. Allison Dunn tossed in 14, Jennifer Boyle 10, and Jessica Iori and Kathryn Edwards 6 each as the Intermediate girls beat St. Matthias 37-26. The Bantams needed to come from behind to keep their streak alive. Down 15-12 after 3 quarters, they turned up the defense and outscored St. Thomas Apostle 15-2 to take the win 27-17. Casey Collins, Deirdre Munday, Jackie Gillen, and Ashley Raaf spurred the winning stretch drive.

The Novices beat St. Raphael 25-5 as Marissa Scotto scored 8. Taylor Butigan excelled from the foul line while the defense of the entire team was outstanding. The Subnovice A’s played a competitive game against Our Lady of Hope as Courtney Blum scored 4 and Erin Klein 3. Erika Sorenson displayed excellent passing, while Kerri Rose Brennan and Madison Efron were the defensive stars. The Subnovice B’s played St. Mary Winfield and showed improved ball movement. Emma Michaels and Kimberly Sluyk both scored from the field and the foul line. Games continue this weekend and the Christmas Tournament gets underway on Friday December 16.
