G-Town, BK Win SFDS Girls Intramurals
Last weekend, the championship games were played for St Francis DeSales Girls Intramurals. On Friday 11/18, Bishop Kearney met Fontbonne Hall in the 3rd & 4th grade division for an exciting game. Fontbonne Hall played a tight defense and held Bishop Kearney down to win the game. All the points for Fontbonne were scored by Nicole Maranga who was assisted by: Kelly Casey, Courtney Blum, Erin Klein, Casey McDade, Maryellen Woods, Annie Ryan, Sophia Zweifler, and Alexis Feldman. Bishop Kearney did try hard and fought till the end, especially Daisy Trusttum, Shannon Twomey, Renee Simos, Michelle Wryan, Emma Michaels and Shannon DeSilvia.
The next game was 5th & 6th grade, St. John’s vs. Georgetown, who was undefeated this season and remained on top with a close 20-18 victory. Both teams fought hard and strong to claim the title but in the last four seconds of the fourth quarter, Taylor Butigan scored Georgetown’s winning basket. St John’s girls played like champions; Kimberly Cortez, Jessie Boland, Marissa Scotto, Lisa Pulkoski, Rachel Gersh, Megan Doyle, Hannah Kelly, and Judith Wanderer. The first place trophies were given to Georgetown’s Taylor Butigan, Monique Donofrio, Paris Hanson, Kristen Henschel, Bridget Klein, Deidre Munday, Emily Gifford, Catherine Muldoon, and Kathleen Jedruszczuk.
After both games we had award ceremonies and ice cream. The girls’ intramural season is over and a special thanks to all the coaches who really make this a great program for our girls, it wouldn’t be as successful without you.
