Childcare Training Set For Far Rockaway
The Business Outreach Center (BOC) Network, Inc. and Blanche Community Progress Day Care Center are teaming up to offer the “Child Care Means Business” 9-week intensive childcare training in Far Rockaway.
“Child Care Means Business” increases the potential of dedicated women and men providing care for infants and young children in city communities to achieve success and maintain quality services. In addition to 45 hours of training, BOC Network supplements this program with individualized business counseling as well as access to loans and grants for business start and expansion. BOC Executive Director Nancy Carin states, “We are very excited about this innovative collaborative project. We think this is a good model to help women who are starting home based child care businesses to succeed and realize their dreams of owning a business.”
The “Child Care Means Business” project equips dedicated child care providers with the skills and knowledge they need to run successful child care businesses. This innovative project is a collaboration between the Business Outreach Center (BOC) Network and partners throughout New York City. It operates with the support of New York State Office of Children and Family Services, the U.S. Small Business Administration and private foundations. The unique training conveys vital business know-how in marketing; record keeping and financial management as well as skills for navigating through complex City and State agency requirements.
The training class will be offered two nights per week on Wednesday and Thursday evenings and enrollment is by application.
A free information session will be held at Blanche Community Progress Day Care Center on Thursday, December 15 at 6:45 p.m. Classes will begin on Wednesday, March 1, 2006.
