Drive-Through Light Show At Jones Beach

Long Island’s premier drive-through animated holiday light display, the Holiday Light Spectacular at Jones Beach at the West End presented by Toyota, returns for the 2005 holiday season.

Over one million enchanting lights in a wide array of dazzling displays can be found around each corner. Back for its sixth season, this year’s event is gearing up to be the biggest and brightest yet -with the all new “Santa On the Go!” theme!

Lighted displays feature Santa riding in a Hot Air Balloon, on a Motorcycle, in a Golf Cart, Kayaking, Surfing and of course, hopping into his sleigh!

The Holiday Light Spectacular also features the brilliantly lit, popular favorite of “The Twelve Days of Christmas” complete with “Ladies Dancing” and “Drummers Drumming.”

The Holiday Light Spectacular will be open this year from Friday, November 25th through Sunday, January 1st. Opening Night will kick off on Friday, November 25th at dusk with special guest Michael Amante singing a Christmas hit or two as well as the Seaford High School Choir performance. Park hours are Sunday through Thursday from dusk until 9:30 pm; and Fridays and Saturdays from dusk until 10:30 p.m. The park will be closed on November 28 and 29, and December 5, 6, 12 & 13.

Don’t forget to help the needy children of our neighborhoods, please bring new, unwrapped toys to put into the collection box for participation in the TOYS FOR TOTS Program before December 22nd (toy distribution normally takes place on December 23 and 24.)

After visiting the lights patrons can visit the Holiday Village where they may have their picture taken with Santa, purchase refreshments, and holiday decorations.

And, don’t forget to bring the family pet to take pictures with Santa on Pet Night – every Wednesday! In addition, for the second year, the Local Choir program offers groups with musical talents a chance to perform outside of the Holiday Village on select nights of the event. Local charities and various organizations are also being offered discounted tickets to the event to use in fundraising efforts for their own special projects.

Organizations interested in performing or fundraising should call 516-247-5210.

The cost of the drive through admission is $17 per carload Monday-Sunday. Passenger vans seating 15 are $39. Advanced tickets may be purchased at the North Fork Theatre at Westbury box office, or through Ticketmaster at 212-307-7171 or 631-888-9000 and online at www.ticketmaster.com so patrons can enjoy the convenience of buying tickets in advance of the show.

This year’s Holiday Light Spectacular features unlimited same night drive throughs every night with the purchase of a valid ticket so you can experience the beauty of the Holiday Light Spectacular more than once!
