The Ritter-Crowley Brunch

Thank you so much for making me part of the Ritter-Crowley brunch for Thanksgiving. The Brady Brunch has nothing on them. Seventeen of them gathered around the Thanksgiving table, which takes up half of the huge living room which is the dinning area of the “House Beautiful” The Mansion,” or the “Palace” as some rightfully refer to it as. It is absolutely gorgeous, built by Patty and Bobby Crowley, and big enough to spaciously accommodate the Ritter-Crowley clan.

There was Patty Crowley, Mistress of the House, designer and architect of House Beautiful, chief cook, bottle wash and most gracious hostess. Hubby, Bobby Crowley, laborer, taster, carver, server, gracious bartender and host; and comfy daughter and junior hostess, Nicole.

Guests were: Gladys (Mom–in-law) Crowley; daughter and Bobby’s sister, Caryn Fata; Patty’s sister, Sheila and Derek McCarthy with their little girl, Sabrina (3); twin sister Karen Ritter and son, Coty; Donald Ritter and Casey; Donald’s twin sister Ellen and John Pintauro with children, and Justen and Brianna and me. My son, Jimmy, picked me up and drove me down.

Well, it all started with the bubbly and some wine and we sat down to a beautifully cooked turkey, with the dressings and veggies and fixin’s.

It was just great to be among them, and this was only part of the family. They are all successful in their own right, but the love and care for one another was astounding and made one think of the advantages of being from a large family. You always have someone on your side. And certainly a great deal to be thankful for. A beautiful day with a beautiful family.

Since the stroke I had a few months past I have a great deal to be thankful for, too.

Being Alive

There are bumps in the road

As we travel on through life.

They may slow us down

While we face the strife

But forge ahead is the only thing to do.

And be thankful for the chance

We’ll find a better circumstance

The world is ours to see and view Drink in the mountains, lakes and sky

What else should we do?

Be happy and thankful it is all there for you.

For every tear you have shed,

Every drop of blood you have bled

To see it through to the other side

The happiness, the glow

The fulfillment and the pride

The thankfulness you feel inside

For, BEING ALIVE!
