Players, coaches and referees from the G-Way 8-11 and 12-14 team gather outside the Sorrentino Recreational Center. Two Sorrentino Flag Football teams played competitively in the NFL/PAL/ Parks and Recreation Flag Football League last Saturday at East River Park in Manhattan.

Though both the 8-11 and 12-14 teams played hard, Sorrentino fell short in claiming the 2005 flag football crown.

In the 8-11 year old competition, Sorrentino G-Way was defeated by Brooklyn in the semifinals.

Sorrentino G-Way lost 25-18 in a nailbiter with Manhattan in the finals of the 12-14 year old competition. G-Way had previously defeated Brooklyn in the semifinals earlier in the day to reach the championship.

In the 15-17 year old division, the Sorrentino Recreational Center All stars compete against the best of the city and can win the title on Saturday, December 3 at East River Park.

For further information, call the Sorrentino Recreational Center at 718-471-4818 and ask for Stan Brown, Sports Director or Robert Lindo, sports coordinator. The center is located at 1848 Cornaga Avenue.
