New Bishop Kearney Eucharistic Ministers

Girls from the Rockaway peninsula are pictured after the ceremony with Sister Thomasine Stagnitta, CSJ (Bishop Kearney’s Principal), and Father Louis DeGaetano, from St. Francis de Sales parish. Seated: Courtney Donahue, Nora Howard, Morgan Shannon, Corinne Howley, Keara Savage and Christina Kirk. Standing: Sister Thomasine, Caitlin Hynes, Juliann Ulrich, Kristi Horgan, Kaitlyn French and Father DeGaetano.

Bishop Kearney recently commissioned 22 seniors as Eucharistic Ministers, during a Mass attended by their parents, fellow students, clergy, and religious and lay people from parishes they will represent. The girls will be able to distribute Communion at Kearney’s liturgical functions and in their own parishes, as well as to the homebound and those unable to attend Mass.

Caitlin Hynes, a Belle Harbor resident and newly-installed minister, reflected, “It is indeed a blessing to be able to partake in such a fulfilling ministry, and to be able to participate in the Blessed Sacrament in such a special way.”
