Old Lifeguard Photographs Are Always A Hit With Wave Readers

Thanks to Marie H. Connally of Belle Harbor, Historical Views today publishes another old lifeguard photograph from Rockaway Beach’s past. The job of lifeguard was sacred in the old days, and many a lad from the “new sod,” (Rockaway Beach) applied for and got the job, simply because they were experienced swimmers who learned the hard way in the surf, both rough and smooth, on the Rockaway peninsula!

Of the three lads in the picture, it is easily seen that one is a Department of Parks lifeguard, one is a Park Inn pool lifeguard, and the third a hard worker, judging by his overalls and strong arms.

Old lifeguard pictures are always welcomed by Historical Views and Wave readers, because whether young or old or now or past, there is a camaraderie always present to welcome such photos by the lifeguard community, if you will!

The men in the picture look like brothers, but there was no identification with the photo.
