Ellen Connelly received the “Otto” award from the American Ballroom Theater for her work as a master teacher in the “Dancing Classroom,” programs offered in many public schools. Also winning the award was Amy Sewell, writer and producer of the award-winning documentary “Mad Hot Ballroom.”

Ellen Connelly, director of the Connelly Dance Centers said, “ No one is too young or too old to enjoy the excitement of ballroom dancing. Ballroom dancing is quickly becoming the most popular sport in America. We are finding in the schools that participate in the Dancing Classrooms program, the students feel if they can’t dance they are not cool!”

The Movie “Mad Hot Ballroom” has just made the short list for the Oscar nominations as of November 14, 2005.
