Broad Channel Peanut Shamrocks Battle Warriors To Draw

The BCAC Peanut Shamrocks traveled to Wantagh this past Sunday to take on the Warriors. Captain Theo Stathis won the coin toss for the Shamrocks and elected to receive.

Steven Kenny took the 1st handoff of the game for a 5 yard gain setting up Jordan Jessup’s 1st carry, a 55 yard TD (5th of season) cutting back several times avoiding the Warriors secondary. On their 2nd possession, Theo Stathis sprinted 55 yards for another Shamrocks TD (Theo’s 2nd of the season). The Shamrocks controlled the clock with a solid running game; RB’s Michael Mure, Brian Feimer, Charlie Bostwick, Danny Hoff and Matt Ostrander were given huge running holes by the offensive line of Justin Carricato, Kieran Mills, Brian Feimer, Charlie Bostwick, Matt Ostrander and Jordan Jessup.

The big story of the afternoon was the Shamrocks improved defense, after giving up 2 TD’s on a muddy field in the 1st half, they shut down the Warriors the rest of the game. The line was controlled by Liam Malsy, Steven Kenny, Patrick Minihane, Charlie Bostwick, Brian Feimer and Jordan Jessup.

The coaches were extremely proud of their defense as they played as a team and all swarmed to the football. Jordan Jessup was unstoppable on the line, the Warriors double and triple teamed Jordan but he recorded several sacks and tackles. When Jordan couldn’t break free the other lineman stepped up along with the Shamrocks secondary. Theo Stathis, Michael Mure, Danny Hoff, Justin Carricato and Matt Ostrander made sure the Warriors stayed out of the end zone.

Late in the 4th quarter the Warriors offense tried to break the 12-12 tie. On 3rd down, Charlie Bostwick provided a bone crushing hit on the Warriors star RB, on 4th down, Jordan Jessup bolted past his blocker and sacked the QB to end the game.

Thanks to all of the parents who stood in the rain to cheer on their Shamrocks.
