Firefighter Raymond R. York Memorial Run Set For November 13
A Memorial Run for Firefighter Raymond R. York, who died in the September 11 attacks, will take place on Sunday, November 13 at noon, rain or shine.
The course will begin on 156 Avenue and Crossbay Boulevard in Howard Beach, and end at the American Legion Hall in Broad Channel, located at 209 Crossbay Boulevard. Parking is available at the American Legion Hall in Broad Channel. Participants are asked to come at 11 a.m. for transportation that will bring them to the start of the race.
The Memorial Run includes a 6K awards race in ten age groups, male and female. There is also a one-mile fun run, and peewee races. All runners will receive a commemorative t-shirt if they pre-register. All proceeds will go to the FDNY Widows and Children’s Fun and the Wounded Warriors Project.
Participants, families and supporters are asked to join in a post-race celebration, with food, beverages, and raffles with master of ceremonies Teddy Rauet. The honorary marshals this year are Joan York, and Ray and Dee York.
