B. 116 Street Work Continues On Furious Schedule
Work continues from one end of Beach 116 Street to the other, as a few deadlines loom large for the shopping street. At the northern end of the street is the new Tribute Park, which is now scheduled to open on November 6 with a large ceremony. The park honors all of those Rockaway residents who died on September 11, 2001 and, in a separate memorial, all of the firefighters who died that day. Pictured, the Muni-Meter machines that controlled parking on the shopping street have been removed and parking will be free as long as the construction is under way.
